The University of North Alabama invites applications for tenure-track Assistant Professor in the department of Counselor Education to teach master’s level core counseling courses in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling Programs beginning in Fall of 2026. Possible courses include development and management of school counseling programs, professional identity and ethics for school counselors, assessment of counseling, group counseling, and practicum. Courses are offered weekdays during the late afternoon and evening, primarily in a traditional format, and summer teaching is typically available. Application review will begin immediately and continue until the position has been filled.

Minimum qualifications include an earned doctorate in Counselor Education is required, preferably from a CACREP-accredited institution; master’s degree in school counseling is required; professional identity as a school counselor educator is required; relevant experience as a school counselor is required; record of participation in relevant professional organizations is required; experience in elementary and secondary school settings is preferred; eligibility to be certified as a school counselor in the State of Alabama is preferred; National Certified Counselor designation is preferred; university teaching experience is preferred; experience in curriculum development, accreditation, certification, and program planning is preferred.
