The Department of Counselor Education at Boise State University invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Counselor Education in Addiction Counseling starting in the fall semester of 2024. The faculty member will (a) serve as the Addiction Cognate Coordinator; (b) teach addiction counseling courses, as well as a variety of core counselor education courses, including PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision (CES) courses; (c) conduct research to develop or further a strong scholarly agenda in the field of Addiction Counseling; (d) mentor and advise MA and PhD in CES students; and (e) participate in service activities at the University, College, and Department level, as well as engage in community and professional service activities. Minimum qualifications:
? An earned doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP-accredited program prior to August 2024, or have been employed as a full-time faculty member in a Counselor Education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2013
? Background in addiction counseling (i.e., clinical experience working with clients with substance misuse and other addiction disorders)
? Evidence of effective teaching in a CACREP-accredited program in Counselor Education or equivalent
? Demonstrated potential for a strong research agenda in the field of counseling, including addiction-related publications and evidence of pursuit of internal and external funding commensurate to rank
? Professionalism and collegiality
? Ability to obtain License as Professional Counselor (LPC) in Idaho by Fall 2024 (https://dopl.idaho.gov/cou/)
Preferred qualifications:
? Experience collaborating/partnering with other academic departments, centers or institutes, mental health agencies, and/or multidisciplinary teams.
? Experience teaching addiction-related courses and supervising MA students in a CACREP accredited Addiction Counseling Program
? Involvement with Addiction-related counseling organizations, work groups, and/or task forces.
? Experience working with and/or conducting research with diverse populations
