Nine Month Fixed Term Appointment

Primary responsibilities include teaching core and specialized mental health counseling courses at the master’s and doctoral levels and supervising and advising master’s and doctoral students.
• A typical faculty workload responsibility may include up to twenty four (24) credits of instruction per academic year.
• The successful candidate may need to teach in other areas as assigned and qualified.
• May be expected to develop and deliver face-to-face, hybrid, and online instruction at the Mankato campus and/or at the university’s additional locations as assigned.
• The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues in curriculum design, instruction and evaluation, conduct research productively and mentor students in research, help create innovative strategies for student recruitment, retention, and completion, and may be expected to develop external grant funding opportunities.
• All faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly or creative activity or research, in continuing preparation and study, in contributing to student growth and development, and in providing service to the university and community (See Article 22 and Appendix G of the IFO Master Agreement).
• This position will supervise/advise graduate students.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching graduate courses in mental health counseling and other core department courses.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The Department of Counseling and Student Personnel at Minnesota State University, Mankato offers Master’s of Science programs that prepare graduates for licensure and professional practice in professional school counseling, mental health counseling, and college student affairs. The department also offers a Doctorate of Education program in counselor education and supervision. The department was the first counseling program in the Upper Midwest to be fully accredited in 1986 by the Council for the Accreditation for Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). All programs are currently fully accredited by CACREP. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Doctorate or terminal degree in Counselor Education and Supervision or a closely related field from a CACREP accredited institution. (If ABD, degree must be conferred on an official transcript and received in Human Resources by August 14, 2023.)
• Clinical experience and demonstrated background in mental health counseling and supervision.
• Competency in assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, counseling individuals, couples, and families across the life span in a clinical mental health setting.
• Demonstrated ability to serve a diverse population and apply an equity lens to this position including social justice and/or anti-racism.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
• Demonstrated effective written, oral communication and/or presentation skills.
• Demonstrated training and experience appropriate to teach applied courses and advise at the graduate and/or doctoral level.
• Demonstrated ability to use technology, develop classroom, and deliver hybrid and online courses.
• Experience supervising students in field placements.
• Demonstrated ability to work individually and collaboratively as a member of a team.
• Knowledge of CACREP accreditation standards and mental health counseling program development.
• Evidence of scholarly activity, including publications and/or professional presentations.
• Currently hold or have potential to obtain board licensure in Professional Clinical Counseling.
